Automotive Shop Manager

Auto Imports is a family owned and operated auto repair shop in South Edmonton. We are a growing company & we need great people to share our vision, our passion and to join us on the journey. Currently we are seeking applications for the position of Automotive Shop Manager.

Employment Status: Full Time

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and technician allocation for day to day operations.
  • Ensure that the department is adequately staffed to achieve objectives, and facilitate the training and development of team members in the department, by providing feedback and coaching to support improvements in their job performance.
  • Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials in the workshop.
  • Supervise the activities of automotive service technicians to ensure efficient job performance and timely repairs.
  • Monitor & manage shop workflow to ensure timely delivery of vehicles to customer as per the promised times.
  • Review customers repair orders and inspect the quality of a technician repairs before the release of vehicles.
  • Plan and adjust the workloads of technicians to match their skills and abilities.
  • Oversee the procurement of vehicle parts, automotive equipment and various other items required in service department.
  • Monitor & track the stock levels and maintain above minimum stock levels of all stocked items & supplies at all times
  • Maintain communication with management to regarding shop performance and share ideas to implement & concerns to address to ensure optimum functioning of the workshop.
  • Oversee the disposal of wastes such as used engine oil, soot to ensure adherence to health and safety laws.
  • Negotiate, interact and manage relationships with parts vendors
  • Prioritize work & manage time effectively to meet demands and customer needs while handling a diversity of tasks simultaneously

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school or higher level of education
  • Strong automotive background with minimum 5 years of experience in automotive shop management
  • Ability to manage customers/staff in a professional manner and to inspire their confidence and trust
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and follow up on the team’s activities
  • Ability to find solutions to problems and make decisions
  • Ability to multitask, adapt and cope with challenging situations
